682 question
The motor in my 682 is blown up. What would be a good replacement? Thought about an old K series kohler...any thoughts?
|
IF...this were me, I would look at:
* Kohler M-18 (Magnum Series) * Kohler CH-18 (Command Series) If they are Cub Cadet spec'd engines, minimal adaptation to make them fit. |
If you have the cash this is the way to go, if you rebuild some other stuff while you're at it then it will be like a new tractor.

I was thinking about going the vanguard route. Just not sure what all I will have to go through when mounting the clutch up and driveshaft.
|
Those kits are made to drop in, the original driveshaft and clutch will work.

Awesome thank you!

I like the M-18,it's a bolt in and the last of the best opposed torquey twins.
|
Found a used m18 for sale..$175 unknown condition. How will the wiring be? The same as the original engine? Thanks Corey

A small modification is needed to be done. |
The used M18 would be quick and easy if It's in good shape! Those old opposed twins are hard to beat for low end lugging power and torque
If that doesn't work out the Vangard kits from Small engine warehouse are hard to beat... drop in ready! Like Tim (olds) said.. take care of a few other things while you are in there and you will have a like new tractor!:beerchug::beerchug: |
