Original battery

Anyone know if any batteries are made that are similar in size to the original diesel batteries. I just got an nos battery cover but it does not fit the current battery

Take a look at this site. It gives all the physical sizes of the different BCI Group numbers. If you click on any individual battery it will tell you the specifics of that battery.

Hope that helps.

Have you tried measuring the cover and calling the parts store to see if they have anything? How much to big is your current battery?

Tim I'm doing that now.

Against my better judgement I'm going to share this tidbit of information which I'm sure will raise an eyebrow or two. The old Ford tractors had a battery that had Ford molded into the sides, there is a company reproducing them but they are a hair to big to fit into the original battery cover. I have been known to take a sander around the top of the battery to shave off a 1/16" all the way around to get the cover to fit, not an ideal situation but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I bought the correct battery from interstate for my 1782 but don't know if it's the same one that goes in yours Charles. I'm thinking not though as mine has the lower wings on the battery for the mounts to clamp on. Or maybe I'm missing mine? Haven't looked as if yet. I will try to find the receipt.

You keep receipts? I always throw them out so they can't be used against me.:biggrin2:

The Cyclops are different and mount the battery up front and IIRC they use a big battery.

Charles, I have one of those covers but never put it on because I knew they were rare. Let me see if it fits on mine.

Sounds good thanks

The cyclops uses a bigger battery, basically a car battery. I'm unable to find the stock battery dimensions, but this may be close.. https://www.batterysharks.com/Cub-Ca..._b12-35_x1.htm

What I would do is put your cover on the tie downs and measure the hight you need the battery to be, then measure the cover for the length and width. Then a simple google search will probably offer you some options.
