Any real VW fans on here?

I worked on an all original 1969 Beetle today. It belongs to the son of the original owner. It had 75k miles and has always been kept inside. It drove even better than it looks.

It came in because it wouldn't idle. Ten minutes later after cleaning the idle solenoid, it purred like a kitten. I went on a short test drive to refresh some memories.

I had a 72 Super Beetle just after high school. I wish I had never sold it! I'm taking donations. I think he would take $7k for it:biggrin2:

If you get it you're gonna need one of these.

My brother had a 64, bare bones to say at least.
That motor has a sound you never forget, just like Mom calling you for dinner....

Had a '59 ghia, and '65 bug that I restored and put 110,000 on it.
They are like an energizer bunny, but without a gas heater, they are one cold ride!
Good memories.:beerchug:

Defiantly a chilly ride in the winter George!:beerchug:

My Snapon man has a few. Here's his 'Ghia, lil brown grocery getter, drag bug , and oval.

Ha,LOL!
The only way my VW's would get the front wheels off the ground, was with a jack:bigthink:
They could be bought for $50-100 and always had a few around for parts.
Simple and basic transportation.
Who would da thunk they would be worth collecting some day.

I know! I bought my SB for $500 in 96 and sold it for $700 in 98. I guess the guy in my OP was thinking ahead. I wish I had taken some interior pics. The only thing worn was the pedals and carpet on the driver side. It still has the 1993 inspection sticker in the window. Last year b4 antique status.

Oh, I forgot to mention, Tay took me to the burger joint one night in the little brown one while it was wearing it's street tires. I think I may have left a lil' brown stain in the seat!:biggrin2:

Had a 73 and 74 bug years ago. The 73 was dark blue, and had a bigger engine, and that one would pull the ftont tires.:beerchug:
