Theft - Portland, IN show
 

I was doing some reading on another site and I guess a few items were stolen from the Portland show, the items include an antique generator, hit and miss engine and a Cub Cadet tractor, maybe more but that's all I heard. It's a real shame that your stuff isn't safe even around fellow collector's.

I heard something about that too, I agree, it's disgusting someone would do that.

Any more details on what is missing?

Please forgive me if this a dumb question, but how does one walk off with a large piece of equipment or even a tractor at a show? Hit and miss engines aren't exactly something one could just shove down their pants and wander away with. That takes a team. :bash:

Good question. This is a several day show so I'm sure lots of stuff get left there over night and from what I've heard there's almost no security at night.

Only takes a few minutes with a trailer and a winch. :angry:

If they catch the thieves, I'm undecided between a pig farm or a hole with lime ....

I can see how it happens, just start loading stuff up when no one is around and act calm and cool like it is yours. Fortunately from what I have observed in fooling with old iron for 30 years, that crowd is still one of the more honest groups of folks out there. With any group there will be bad apples of varying degrees, but not that many in that crowd. Several times I have ordered parts and was told the bill will be in the box, please mail the check once you get the shipment.
