Cast Iron Rear End Swap

2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I know you guys have talked about using an older CI rear end with the guts of my 1572 Aluminum, but I wasn't able to find any threads on the swap.

If there is a procedure, or if someone has already done this could you help me out? I have several external brake CI rear ends, just need to know a) if I can do it myself, or b) I need to get someone to do it for me.

I'm sure there are some more on here.

He's the only guy I recall ever doing it. Not worth the trouble. Only thing to gain is some weight. You can do that with fluid filled tires and wheel weights.

+1 on what Jon said.

Thx Todd, very much appreciated

Thx Jonathan, figured if I’m replacing axle seals and Hydro to Diff gasket, might as well ask.

I have a 2072 with a CI rear. Bought it that way. It has way more torque than all my other supers. It literally pulls the front wheels off the ground if you slam the hydro lever forward. None of the other 25 + supers I have had did that. Not saying it is the rear just saying what it does

Much appreciated Charles. I believe I have found all the parts I need to convert to a CV shaft w/o the Disconnect Clutch

Did you end up doing the swap?

Stayed with the Aluminum Rear End

FYI - I stayed with the aluminum rear end, added braces to support the broken case. Works perfect now.
