Fuel cap
I need a small neck fuel cap for a 1200. Is there a plain fuel cap that fits ? I have a Stens large neck but haven't found a Stens small neck.
|
The neck is on the tank.
Whats a small/large "neck" gas cap? Are you referring to the diameter???? :Unknown: |
yes the diameter of the large is about 2 inches and the older one is about 1 1/2 inchs in diameter. I need the older style small one.
|
So, what is your question?
The correct cap can still be purchased brand new. |
I was trying to find a plain fuel cap that fit not the 30 dollar correct fuel gauge cap that I did not need.
|
I done a search on eBay for 1.5" diameter Fuel Caps and came up with many. The big question is, what is the "thread pattern" and the TPI.
|
I'll just throw this out there, my 1650 is one of the earlier models and it had the small cap/neck with gauge.
I found it a pain to fill, so I went to the larger, later tank/cap. it's much easier to fill and I got the cap/with gauge, tank, & shutoff for $15 @ a tractor show. They do sell the small cap on ebay, I've seen it and it fits other brands of manufactures that use Kohler engines. Now if your doing a numbers matching concourse de elegant restoration, ya will loose a couple of points for the wrong tank/cap if you substitute. :bigthink: |

OP, I found one for my tractor by looking up the P/N on cubcadet.com and googling for a cross reference to Stens. Looks like the older number is IH-61635-C2 Google that and see if you can find a cross reference. I'm not having much luck. Looks like you might be stuck going OEM, or trying to find an aftermarket without a gauge that fits. |
The fuel cap is available new from CCC. I don't care if the OP doesn't like the price. It's not our job to find the best deal. It's a fuel cap with a gauge. I know what the OP wants..... he wants a $3 cap with no gauge. Im not going to spend a half hour Googling it for him, then figuring out who sells it cheapest. (Unless it's a NLA part, 3 min is about my limit.) That's what parts people do, and what Google is for. This is not an elusive, hard to find or NLA part. It's a fuel cap. TSC carries a whole wall of them.
