Something different to play with!

Just picked this up over the weekend. Runs great! Was converted over to an electronic ignition. The P.O. even put an alternator on it. It’s a Simplicity 9020 Powermax with a 19.5 Onan... Just needs some paint! :beerchug:

Looks like a beast! Is it the same as the little Allis tractors that used an Onan? Those were kind of modeled after the full sized AC farm tractors.

AC owned Simplicity MFG at that time. The tractors were beast and compared nicely to the 154 Cub Lo-Boy. The AC/Simplicity models had a nicer mowing system. They have cult following these days. Have fun with your new toy!:beerchug:

I think they are far superior to the Lo-Boy. Better 3pt. True 540 rear PTO. FAR better. The LB would have been a decent tractor if it just had a freakin PTO. :bash2:

I agree. We are spoiled today with the compact tractors that have so many features and benefits. But, in the mid 70's those were the choices we had. Tractors like Kubota and Yanmar were on their way but were still lesser known for their versatility and reliability.

The 4040, 4041, 920, Power Max 9020 and the Lo-Boy series are all expensive to repair. I personally like old Lo-Boys not because they were great tractors, but because they run nicely and look cool. Simplicity has always had a great mowing system but decks for that series of tractors, while rugged, were not deep decks. If they were leveled properly and the blades sharpened correctly they would outperform any of the Lo-Boy decks

Those are pretty cool! The day I was pulling the 2500# yard roller with my model 71, ( see thread ) the other guy there had an orange and white one . They pull pretty good!

Thanks everyone! Okay, I'll snap a few more pics... I need to run the leaf sweeper around the yard so, just for fun I'll hook this bad boy up and give it some exercise! :biggrin2: Just an FYI, it has the 2000 RPM PTO so I can use my cub stuff with it! I really want to hook it to a brinly plow and go to town!! Eventually, I'll need some narrower rear tires so that it will fit better into the furrow... :beerchug:

This was at the last plow day I went to, I believe it's the same basic tractor with different badge's. It sure was cool.

Is that a Super 55 I see in the background of your picture?
