169 snow ready! - video added
2 Attachment(s)
I know everyone likes pix so here is a pic of my 169 with the new to me QA42A. My father came by last night and we got her all ready for snow duties!
One thing I noticed - and others with experience please chime in - the thrower doesn't lift very high and it really only lifts up on one side (the side with the lift arm). The other barely gets off the ground. Is this normal? Thanks! |
Looks like you're ready. Do you get lake effect snows?
|
I'd say you have a lot of slop and/or worn/broken or bent parts somewhere in the lift assembly or quick attach.
|
Look at your lift rod. If it is too long, you won't have the ability to lift the snow blower as high. IIRC, some tractors needed different rod lengths, so you may have the wrong length. Easy enough to get a piece of 1/2 inch rod from the big box store and bend new ends on it.

Here's a video as promised. In the start of the video, you can see that the hydraulics don't move very far at all - I know there is a "stop" but that isn't the issue...is there an additional adjustment?
Second part of the video yoh will see how the one side is lifted more that the other. I am inclined to thing the liftrod is not the culprit. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fvb0Z2S8oSA |
I think the rod should be 28 1/2" long

What is that blue sparkly light between the coil and the side cover?:bigthink:

EDIT - Disregard this first paragraph and see my next post
Lift height issue first, remove the rod from your lift arm so that the thrower is out of the picture. Then run your lift full travel bottom to top. At the full up position If the lift arm goes further towards the rear of the tractor than it does in your video then something with the thrower is stopping the lift. If it doesn't, you have something on the tractor not right. Remove the center cover and have a look. As far as being lopsided, your video leaves alot to be desired to be able to help you. I'm gonna go take some picks of mine, maybe will help, be right back. |
