1772 broken engine cradle
1 Attachment(s)
I was changing out the driveline on my 1772, and I found a broken bolt that holds the cradle to the frame... :BangPC: I also found this under the radiator! :bash2:

Here’s the new CV style driveline. Many thanks to Jeff inPA! :Thanks:

There was a guy on here not long ago (I didn't think it was you Darrel, but maybe it was) who was having some kind of issue with either the radiator, or the engine vibrating or the fan hitting the radiator. Wish I could remember. Perhaps this was his problem as well. Something to look out for in the future for sure. I don't have a diesel tractor (yet) but I have never seen any that I've worked on, or anyone on here, mention one breaking there before.
Driveline looks good! |

Wow Darrell, what did the po do with that tractor? I'm not sure what would cause that issue.
That driveline sure looks purdy.:biggrin2: Let us know how smooth it is once you get it back together. |
Like we used to say back in the 60's
Man like "bad vibrations" 3 cylinders have bad vibrations. Even numbers are always better two's a company threes a crowd. odd man out no 3 on a match, etc.:biggrin2: |

What is surprising though... even though by nature these 3 cylinder diesels vibrate pretty bad, this one wasn't! :bigthink: There was no extra vibration anywhere, the radiator, nor the rear end yet there there was a lot wrong with it! Broken bolt on the cradle, broken weld and a stripped out spline coupler and worn drive shaft... My buddy who's a very good welder, is coming on Thursday. He'll patch her up and then she'll be singing pretty! :beerchug: |
