Fuel pump again? 782

Think my "replacement" fuel pump is leaking. I replaced it back in November, only used it three times blowing snow. I had the raw gas smell in the garage again, so I parked it outside. I took the blower and chains off, and pulled it back inside the garage. (Got a good dumping of the white stuff, wouldn't you know) The tank is down to half full, and no smell now. (That's about the level of the fuel pump) So once we get rid of the "white stuff" and it gets a little warmer, we'll investigate. (If it is leaking, I'm going the route of many others on this site and replacing it with an electric low pressure one) Live and learn, heard many negatives about the replacement "plastic ones". Should have "listened to the masses".

I had a bad replacement pump a couple years ago.

Many of the others should have listened to the "masses" and not bought the cheapest pump they could find.

I haven't had any issues with replacement pumps, and I for one would not put an electric pump on. Just another part that will fail, and if not used a lot, likely fail often. I put a lot of electric pumps on "other" things..... they don't last real long either. Longer than a few months granted..... but not long.

I'd be checking the float in the carb. Fuel will flow through that pump even if it's off. Don't assume it's the pump.

Thanks! We'll check that out too.
