New XT3 GSX, Very Impressed

I'm excited!...I just put a down payment on a new XT3 GSX yesterday after taking it for a test drive. I highly recommend anyone who might think Cub quality has suffered to take another look and drive one, you might just change your mind, I did. By the way, my first 20 years had many many hours on a 73 and 125 mowing, plowing, pulling stumps just to name a few.

I can't stress it enough on how impressed I was with the build quality and the "heft" of it. The cast iron tranny imo is very substantial and looks ready to do some real work. In fact, I think it would give the old IH tranny a run for the money. I was asking the dealer/owner who is also a Case IH dealer for the big stuff and a Cub Dealer for decades said that plowing soil with one of those would not be a problem and I would have to agree with him based on what I experienced thus far. Thick metal, fabricated deck, power steering, extremely tight turing radius are just a few good things I noticed . I'll follow up with more once I get some hrs on it.

Congratulations on your new mower. When do you get it?

I can have it as early as next week but one there's one obstacle...it won't fit through the shed door. My Dad and I will be fixing that but it'll be another two weeks. Part of the purchase agreement was the dealer to be patient hold until I'm ready for it. I had to purchase now to get the $300 off. It needs to be attached to a reserved serial number before the 30th.

Congrats! You will love it. They are more than capable for garden work. I put a Johnny Products sleeve hitch on. I got Jeff in Pa to weld up an adaptor for the 190-960 tiller. I also got a plow too. Let me know if you have any questions.

I would imagine they are pretty good machines for mowing grass. I don't do anything else with my mowers but mow grass so IF I were to consider a new one (that'll never happen cause I'm too cheap:biggrin2:), I would at least give them a look. My biggest problem with Cadet no is no dealer support in my area. Keep us posted, there are several of us here that are hoping Cadet still makes something besides the throw away machines at the big box stores.

great to hear someone actually is taking advantage of the price break. I like my GTX2100, I think you will like the XT3.

Which deck did you select?

Xt3 gsx

I recently joined and have an IH cub cadet 169 and have owned an XT3 GSX since last September. I have plowed, box scraped and pushed dirt and gravel while building a very long gravel driveway. It had no issues doing everything I asked very easily. The 169 was recently bought (within the last 4 weeks) and in perfect working order. I have used it the last 2 weeks to push dirt and grade on a new piece of property. They both do everything I ask with no issues. I love the on demand locking differential on the GSX. It came in handy while doing all the driveway work. The cruise control, power steering and fabricated deck (went with the 54) make the GSX a fantastic mower too. I have about 12 acres I cut and maintain, along with groundwork.

Nice!!! I love these ones too! This GSX would blow the doors off a JD 318, and prolly a 1811 with no problems. I always look them over since I'm at the dealer so much. Imagine how much more awesome a IH 782 would be with this power plant!

Hats off, and congrats!!!

This GSX would blow the doors off a JD 318,

Really? Does is it have dedicated Hydraulic outlets up front for angle blade use? Dual sticks? Turning brakes? HD U joints at each end of the driveshaft?
What does it have for rear PTO to drive a tiller or brush hog?

Nah, I cant agree with that statement....

Lets not turn this into what johncub7172 thinks, ok? Great, don't agree. That's healthy! But a 60" fab deck backed by a Kohler 25 hp Command v-twin, shaft drive, cast iron trans, would kill a 318 mowing, and in power that its not even a fair comparison to the great JD 318. Besides, what garden tractor manufacture produces all those options a 318 has anyway?

The JD is truly a remarkable piece. But I'm more interested in this new Cub Cadet XT3!
