Sgt 2182
I just purchased a 2182 SGT. It came with a Haban 60" deck. The "carriage" that it came with that connects the deck to the tractor has a missing pin for the locking mechanism forward of the front axle. The weld is on the outside of the frame of the carriage as might be already known. The odd thing is that it looks like a "clean break" on the inside, not rough and uneven where there should be part of the pin still there. Is this a typical "clean" break? Is the pin welded through the carriage frame or inserted and held some how in the carriage frame?
Thanks, Bob |
Picks will help folks answer you. For the record the carriage is most commonly referred to as a mule drive.

Hi Navajo350, welcome to the forum. Are you missing one or both pins? Shortly after I picked up an 1872 SGT, I began to see paint flaking and movement on the pin on the mule drive on the right side of the tractor. I was able to clean it up, grind off the extra "bubble-gum" for welds, then re-welded it myself. The pin was welded on the outside of the frame with nothing on the inside. It's been fine for years now. Maybe you can get yours welded as well.
