New to me Haban 374 Deck

2 Attachment(s)
Thursday I scored a very clean Haban 374 deck on craigslist. It needed no repairs other than greasing and a mule drive idler to put in service. It came with new blades, belts, and four new industrial wheels with grease fittings. I will repaint it this winter but for now it will do. I installed it yesterday and mowed with it for about 1-1/2 hrs and it worked great. I did not have to adjust it and it cuts very clean and level. It seems to require less power than the 60 inch deck I was using that came off of a 5252 newer cub.
I am very pleased with it.

Tom,

You got a beast right there.. those are great decks.. other than being HEAVY.. The one on my 1782 cuts just like you said.. very clean and level! It's too bad that Haban is no longer around.. they made some super heavy duty stuff!:beerchug:

Congrats on the new deck. I'm still waiting to stumble upon one for dirt cheap so I can add a cat 0 mount and an engine, it would basically be like a finishing mower that are used behind big tractors.

Yes, I hear you on the heavy part. They made some very heavy duty equipment. What I really like about this deck is it is all flat metal fabricated, If it would ever need repairs it would be a piece of cake to weld in a patch.

Good luck finding one cheap. I have been looking for years to find one. The sad thing is when I bought my first 1872 it had a Haban 60 on it and I traded the deck for a GT 46 deck so I could use my bagger system. I gave $300.00 for this one but with all of the new parts on it I thought I did really good.

Thanks Guys.
Tom

Haban 374 follow up

Just a quick follow up on my Haban 374. I mowed again yesterday with it and was again very happy with how it works. This deck seems to be easier on fuel usage than my other 60. I noticed when I hit some tall heavy gas that the governor hardly opened on the engine. It has me thinking that the blade speed might be too high on the other deck. As I said before it was adapted from a newer 5252 tractor and converted from shaft drive to belts.
Later
Tom
