Differences in Rear-end gearing if any.
Have a 2182 the bolts holding the rear-end to the frame are busted out. Found a cheap 1440 with what appears to be a pristine rear-end (IE-not busted out where the bolts that hold it to the frame are.)
Is the gearing the same for a direct swap? I will be doing the SamMac mods and new gaskets and seals. Just wanting to clarify that the gearing and such are going to be the same. Don't have a problem swapping them out if need be. Thanks in advance. Scott |

Rear end braces do wonders Sam will be along shortly to help, he’s the expert |
The 1440 has a Hydrogear trans and a 2182 has a Sundstrand trans. The reduction housings are different. So I hope you didn't buy it yet.:beerchug:

All I really need is the axle housings. They should I hope bolt up to the 2182 housing.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant the front mounts. Axle tubes are the same.

Thanks. Scott |
Yep tubes will swap, axles will also work. diff should play. While you have it apart drill some oil return holes in the main case. I also recommend a set of Xtreme SGT rear end braces.
Here is some light reading for you. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=33244 |
Do you have it apart yet? There's a chance the holes in the main housing are broken too, or stripped, or bolt(s) broken off.
