The magical 1250 twins' adventure
 

Hey y'all! I've decided to start a page documenting the magical adventures of the 1250 twins: Yogi, a 1978 with a hydraulic lift (My brother's), and Boo-boo, a 1974 (My tractor). They've probably already had some interesting adventures already before we got them, but we're going to be documenting the struggle of making these two PITA's look nice.

This is going to be expensive, isn't it?

I'd start by cleaning house, getting some space (you're gonna need it all} and have a garage/yard sale!!

Yeah, we need some more room. We've got so much crap in our little shed that we've started storing tractors outside. 8 tractors in a small shed...and half the attachments...and an atv... and a bunch of other stuff... but that's a job for another time.
16 tractors and at the moment only 6 run. We need to get our shit together and fix these boys.

Yesterday my brother threw the tire back on his 1250 and pulled both out. I don't have the picture but seeing the boys next to each other is cinematic.
I think I feel a tear coming on and hear the national anthem in the background of the picture.

So yesterday we did some work on the twins. I finished putting my weights on Yogi after adding tubes (for adding WW fluid and because the sidewalls leak.) Also put my tunnel cover back on and a few small things. I discovered there's a bolt missing that holds the engine to the cradles so I'll have to find one. Eventually I want to pull the engine and deep clean the frame and engine to make it easier to do the cradle mod. I'll let my brother tell ya what he did to BooBoo.

Yesterday I pulled my tractor out and added 2 more hours onto the hour meter, pulled the exhaust off to get a piece of metal out of the muffler that was creating an obnoxious ringing sound, learned that my amp meter works for a second after starting the tractor then slowly drifts back to 0, adjusted my hood after putting a headlight panel in, and helped my brother put the 124 into the shed.

Isn't it possible your ammeter is working correctly? After using starting current, charges for a moment and then tapers off? My 1650 does basically the same.

Am I the only one who thinks that naming the tractors is weird...... :bigthink:

Yeah.... that's a normal ammeter thing. You used the battery to start the tractor, then started it. Only charges what needs charged. Should move toward center the longer it runs.

You got a problem with the viking?

Naming machines is weird....
They guys I help farm named one of their tractors. But, it has a story behind it... and I didn't use the name when I referred to the 1456.

But "viking" is kind of funny, given how it looks, lol.
