Kohler M18 remote oil filter lines

I probably could do a search of the forum and find my answer, I did a search and found a whole bunch of posts containing "remote oil lines", and I don't have time to read every one of them searching for my answer... so here we go.

Can the remote hoses be replaced separately? I seem to only be finding the whole remote oil filter kits for sale. I had to remove the oil lines to get the side covers off to clean up my engine and they were a bear to get off, now when I put them back on they split (brittle) so I would like to replace just the rubber if I can.

Short answer: no.
Can you cut the band clamp and replace the rubber with oil rated hose and clamps? Sure, if you trust it will hold. Up to you. Just make sure to get (usually redish/pink) oil rated hose. Fuel line will not work, and heater hose certainly will not. Must be OIL RATED.

I see hoses for sale (part number 5232611S) that have threaded fittings on both ends. Mine is threaded on the end to the filter, and slides over a tube on the other end at the engine with a hose clamp. I don't see any way to replace just the rubber, so I guess I'm just looking for the part number for that hose.

I custom made oil lines for an M-20 four years ago. Worked out well and doing fine.

I had lines made for a mag 18 by a local hose shop, they had threaded fittings on both ends.

I took my hose to Napa, and they made me a new one. Wasn't too pricey either...

FWIW:
There are other options for oil filter mountings.
There are adapters that bolt to the block, so there are no oil cooler lines
to mess with on the kohler engines.
I have 4, M-18 engines, 3 of them have the screw on filter on the block.
Only one, has remote oil filter lines.

The 782's I have, both have the block mounted filter and I use motocrap FL400 filter.
There are some who don't like the design as they are a little messy when changing oil, if you don't use a curved trough under the filter to direct the oil into a catch can.

I had considered switching to the screw on filter option, but I would need a different engine cover for that to access it.

I just went to the local NAPA and they don’t make houses but he sent me 1/4 mile up the street to Tennco hose shop (this is what he told me is why he doesn’t do hoses, because there are 3 other places a stonethrow away) and they made two hoses of what I need, they’re blue not red. They’re blue Goodyear flame resistant oil line with shiney new fittings for $32.

Good deal. The hose I had made, is stiffer, but works fine, and cheap enough.
