KT17 Condenser
The KT series condenser 52-147-01-S (aka 52-755-13-S) has two wires vs. the K series condenser 23-0722-S which has one wire. I may need to replace the one-wire condenser on my CC682 with a KT17 Series I engine which worked fine for the five years I've owned this Cub. Right now the engine doesn't start though the points are arcing but no spark at the spark plugs. I haven't yet done an electrical check of the coil. But a new condenser would be easiest and least expensive part to replace.
The wiring schematic doesn't show a second wire from the condenser. Is there a reason why I should use the two-wire condenser (different capacitance?), and where does the second wire go? |
The KT-17 rolled out of the Factory with 52-755-13 Condenser. That condenser has been replaced by ---> 52-755-13S. This is a kit that includes the Mounting Screw.
The 230722-S is a Condenser for the K Series singles. The two wires coming out of the 52-755-13S is wired as follows: * One wire goes to the Ignition Coil * One wire goes to the Ignition Points You could use the 230722-S BUT....you will have to run an extra wire. Wire this condenser to the Ignition Coil. Run the extra wire from the Coil to the Points. :IH Trusted Hand: |
Thanks. I already have a wire running to the points from the same coil terminal that has a wire to the condenser, so I'm all set. This probably explains why Cub Cadet discontinued the two-wire condenser.
