149 Restoration
4 Attachment(s)
Since I am working on restoring my 149, I thought I would start a thread. I started it over the winter, but haven't had much time to work on it recently. Now I'm making progress on it again. I got all of the parts sandblasted and should have them in primer this afternoon or tomorrow. I'm working on sandblasting the frame, and should have that in primer next week. I'm hoping to get it painted next week or the week after. I'm sure I will have a lot of questions while I am putting it back together.
Here are some before pictures: |

Here are some pictures of the frame before blasting. We used some paint stripper to get the heavy stuff off, now I'm sandblasting it.

Hope you stripped it down to the bare frame before blasting.....

Hard to blast all the frame if all the frame isn't exposed. Also, that column and the transmission..... I'd be pretty leery blasting those parts. You can do it, but you have to be careful. Don't want to get sand in them. Then there is the hydraulics.... don't blast the chrome on the cylinder or the spool in the hydraulic valve. You really should completely disassemble it to blast. What you are doing isn't a "restoration". Not that that matters either.... just sayin. |
I covered everything that should not be blasted. Im going to clean the transmission and change the fluid. I'm not too worried about how the the inside of the frame looks where it will be covered, as long as the outside looks good.
