108 starter brackets
Do the 108 brackets differ from different model years? I noticed that the 71-72 108 starter-generators are apparently different from the 73-74 starter-generators, which is why I need to know. And because I need one, and I also need it to fit. :biggrin2:

As far as I know, there are only 2 different S/G mounting brackets. One for the the 7 and 8 hp engines (K161 and K181) and the bracket for all the other engines. Here is link to ebay, where at least 17 of them are for sale. NOT A HARD TO FIND PART. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...acket&_sacat=0 While we are on that topic.... and because you seem to be making this harder than it really is, here is a link to ebay for starter/generators for sale. There are 3 pages of them. On my screen, I sorted them from highest to lowest. Feel free to peruse through until you find the price you would like to pay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...Desc=0&_sop=16 Why do you need a bracket anyway?? They are made of cast iron, and unless you do something silly, they don't break. Did you manage to break one? |
The correct S/G Bracket for the 108 is a Kohler Part: KH-235373-------> KH-235373-S
You can try the Sponsors listed at the top of the page. |
From the cub cadet parts look-up site,
I entered the part number listed above , minus the -s, and Shazam!! That bracket fits a few models for sure This stuff is not hard to figure out. If I, a 74 year old retired trucker can do it.... Well...... 102 104 105 106 2050037U 107 2050038U 108 2050043U 2050209U 2050210U 109 2050044U 2050211U 2050213U 122 123 124 125 126 2050039U 127 2050040U 128 2050045U 2050217U 2050218U 129 2050046U 2050220U 2050221U 2050222U 2050223U 147 2050041U 2050203U 149 2050047U 2050205U 2050206U 2050224U 169 2050048U 70 & 100 100 70 |

They're both listed on the DB Electric site. Turns out the only difference is 12 vs 15 amp, but they don't tell you that on the website and I'm not telepathic. That's why I asked if there were 2 brackets, but I keep forgetting this forum is for people who already know everything. But you do a good job of reminding me. :biggrin2: Quote:

THE DB ELECTRIC SITE IS NOT CUB CADET. If you want to know what came on the machine, ask the manufacturer. There is only ONE correct S/G for the 108. :bash2: How in the heck do you "damage" a cast iron bracket that is heavy enough to be used as a lifting point for the engine?? |
Actually the dbelecric website does list the amperages. Never heard of a 12 amp as original equipment. Cub Cadet site lists one part number for all tractors nowadays.
