108 starter brackets
 

Do the 108 brackets differ from different model years? I noticed that the 71-72 108 starter-generators are apparently different from the 73-74 starter-generators, which is why I need to know. And because I need one, and I also need it to fit. :biggrin2:

I have no idea where you got that idea.... that there were two different ones used based on year. These tractors are literally 50 years old. S/G's wear out and get replaced, swapped out with used ones off other tractors, ect. All the documentation lists that the same S/G was used on all the 1X8/9 tractors. With the exception of the pulleys, all the different models of Delco Remy S/G's will interchange. They were all 15 amp, and they all rotate the same way.

As far as I know, there are only 2 different S/G mounting brackets. One for the the 7 and 8 hp engines (K161 and K181) and the bracket for all the other engines.

Why do you need a bracket anyway?? They are made of cast iron, and unless you do something silly, they don't break. Did you manage to break one?

The correct S/G Bracket for the 108 is a Kohler Part: KH-235373-------> KH-235373-S

That bracket fits a few models for sure
This stuff is not hard to figure out.

They're both listed on the DB Electric site. Turns out the only difference is 12 vs 15 amp, but they don't tell you that on the website and I'm not telepathic. That's why I asked if there were 2 brackets, but I keep forgetting this forum is for people who already know everything. But you do a good job of reminding me. :biggrin2:

How in the heck do you "damage" a cast iron bracket that is heavy enough to be used as a lifting point for the engine??

Actually the dbelecric website does list the amperages. Never heard of a 12 amp as original equipment. Cub Cadet site lists one part number for all tractors nowadays.
