Carb Fitting, 90°
1 Attachment(s)
Mag 20 motor. Carburetor was a mess. Going the knock off route. Need to install the steel 90 degree inlet elbow for the fuel line. 1/8 NPT threads into the side of the carb. Do you folks recommend any kind of gas/oil resistant pipe dope to use on the threads?
I never put anything on the threads, never leaks.
Steel fitting, aluminum housing. Shouldn't leak. I use an anaerobic sealant just because. Don't need it though.
Most thread sealers state on the can/pkg, would they can be used for.
Personally, I like to put about 1 turn of white teflon pipe tape around the threads. I've never had any leaks so I don't know how much good it does for that, but it seems to give the threads some slickness making the tightening process go smoother. JMO, your's may be different.

With sealant or without, be careful not to over tighten the fitting. It's possible to crack the body of the carb where the fitting screws in. For this reason alone is why I use Teflon tape on my fittings. If the fitting seems slightly loose where I need it positioned, I don't have to risk going around another full turn to get it tight and possibly crack it. The tape will seal it.

Yes it is possible to crack the made in the Jina carb, but a kohler OEM I never had that happen to me.
