Pics of Unknow model Cub

These pictures are of the Cub Cadet I purchased used. There are NO I.D. decals anywhere. From hours and hours of research, I believe to possibly be a 3235,
because it has a 23 HP Kohler Command.

It does have a Vacuum PTO engagement assembly, 24 " original Cub tires, shaft drive.

I'm thinking you are correct. The 3235 was built from 2000-2004.

It has the single disc brake on the transmission output shaft so that makes it an early built one. That style was built up to October 31, 2000, then they switched to the cast iron rear. The 1998 & 1999 machines used disc brakes on the rear axle.

If that is the model 290 54" deck, they are awesome. That deck rides on the front casters and rear rollers so there is no need for the height adjustment knob. Take the time to adjust it and they give a beautiful cut.

What are your plans for it?

Cub 3235

The only problem with this un-identified cub as a 3235 is that the operator manuals show the 3235 as having a deck height adjustment knob on the L.H. side of the hump on the floor pan just ahead of the small height adjustment window.

If you look at my floor pan I do NOT have that knob. The one thing that I thought may help someone I.D. this unit is the circular decal on the drive shaft
hump on the floor pan which says "shaft drive" I have NOT seen that decal exactly like the one I have on any other model. All the other units say "shaft drive" in a parallel line ALONG the bottom side of the hump on the floor pan.

The Model # 618 -3209 differential I have must be cast steel / iron because a magnet"sticks" to it, and yes mine has the single rotor / caliper set up, but I have not found out who Mfg. it. I know Hydro Gear builds the pump.

The 24 " original Cub rear wheels where on a few models as well.

I appreciate everyones help in trying to find out what I have.

The machines built before October 31, 2000 did not have the height adjustment knob. Go to the parts look up and it will show that. I think the manual you need is 770-10520.

All my early ones have the "Shaft Drive " decal like yours. Here is the one on my 3205. It also does not have the height adjustment knob.

The rear covers are steel on the aluminum rears. Here is a pic of an aluminum rear with the differential lock like the one that should be in your machine.

Cub Cadet made the aluminum rears. The cast iron rears that I have had were stamped "Made in China".

Most of the 3000 series all had 24x10.5x12 tires. Some of the later ones had 23x9.5x12 tires. Nobody makes 24x10.5x12 tires now. You will need to replace them with 23x10.5x12 when the time comes.

Cub 3235

Oak, How is it you know so much about these units ??!!

I think I am finally narrowing down this Cub !

According to what I am finding it looks like this Cub is a built BEFORE
Serial number 1J310G built BEFORE model # 14A-676-100.

I went to Cubs website for a parts manual, but did not find one. I thought the 3235's where built from 2001 -2003. Is there a way to find out what date the very first 3235's rolled off the assembly line ?

Thanks for all your help !

Oak 07-16-2018 10:31 AM

The 3235’s were built from 2000 to 2004. Yours is an early one.

Early 2000 Cub 3235 parts manual ?

I have a couple more questions ;

Can you please supply the Cub publication manual # for parts manual, and

I do not have a diff lock pedal on the floor pan of my unit. Was that an extra you could get ? I am GLAD I do not have one, it is less tempting to grenade
my diff that way !

The service manual you have a link to is for Cubs up to 3225 for 1999. Do you have one for VERY early 2000 Cub 3235 ?

Thanks.
