1572 Project Begins
2 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone,
Finally had some time to start digging into the 1572. Changed the oil and filter, replaced/cleaned the air filter housing, flushed/replaced the coolant and flushed the hoses. Next step is fuel/filters. Before I can cross my fingers on starting it, it looks like I am missing the starter solenoid and the secondary fuel filter. Any reputable places where I can find these? Eventually I'd like to do the gear reduction starter but I just want to get it fired up first. Check out the pics, what do you guys think? :biggrin2: |
Looks to me like you got a pretty rough one. The engine is free right? How long has it been since it last ran? Was it sitting outside?
I'd replace all the fuel lines, along with a removal and flushing of the tank. I would also remove the high pressure lines and flush the injection pump out really well. Honestly, I would pull the injectors and pop test them and go from there. Looks like that thing has sat a long, long time. On the fuel filter, you can get one from Kubota, but you can likely find them online as well. Nothing special really. Lots of tractors use the same one. Kubota, Yanmar, John Deere's all use the same filter. On the starter, don't waste your time putting a solenoid on it. Just get the gear reduction starter and be done with it. Not worth finding/buying a solenoid for that. Commit, or don't. That's how I see it. If you can't get it running, guys like me can. (Just ship the engine over.) They can be overhauled if they are worn out. :beerchug: |
Check with our vendors at the top of the page or there are several listed on Ebay----
https://www.ebay.com/itm/FUEL-FILTER...sid=m570.l1313 I agree with Jon, do the starter upgrade, the replacement solenoid is almost as much as the gear starter. |

He is missing the entire secondary fuel filter/shut off assembly. I agree the filter element is readily available and both Wix and OEM are fair priced.

Thanks guys, it is really appreciated. I ordered the starter and the fuel filter assembly. Should be here in a few days, I will be sure to keep you updated on the progress!
On a side note, it is a pretty rough one. It has been outside for what I assume a few years. The motor is free which is good. |

Change the oil BEFORE you try getting it started. Do the same on the rear. So many guys on here think, "Oh, I'll get it running first and if it runs, then I'll spend money on oil." That is such a bad idea. That many years, and sitting outside, it likely has water in both. If nothing else other than from condensation. Do yourself a favor.... spend the money on oil and filters first. Then you don't have to wonder later if you did the damage, or if it was already done before you started it the first time. :beerchug: |

Thanks J, again, I really do appreciate all the feedback. Parts should be here soon. I went out to the garage the other day and spun the flywheel several times. It spins pretty smooth for the overall condition of the tractor. I will definitely get the injection pump flushed and cleaned well. While I'm waiting, I might as well clean up the tractor and make it look more presentable. LOL :biggrin2:
When you say cam box, are you referring to the cover on the side of the pump with the three bolts? (See picture) Apologies for my ignorance. It's in my best interest to do everything I can as you said. Rather be safe than sorry for sure. :beerchug: |
