149 hydro problem

I just picked up a 149 which was sitting in a barn for years. I got it running pretty easy (fresh gas, fuel filter, etc.) and it runs good. I have a problem which I've never come across. As I start to go forward the tractor will just start going faster on its own until it reaches full speed. When I put the brake on it goes back to neutral. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions if anyone has experienced this problem.
Thanks,
Earl

There is a friction adjustment on the hydro control handle.
The adjustment procedure is in the service manual.
*IF* it has been corrected, you can download it here.
If not, contact the admin, here.

I just looked at the manual and found the friction adjustment on the hydro handle. I will adjust it tomorrow. Thanks again for all your help.

There should be a friction bushing in there too. It was almost gone on my 149 and the bolt was tightened all the way down. They are available from the sponsors. I'm cheap and didn't want to pay the shipping, so I wrapped electrical tape around the outside of the bushing to thicken it up and cranked er down as a temp fix. Seems to be ok 2 years later.
