Look What I Picked Up!
3 Attachment(s)
Picked up this unique piece over the weekend. It is a hodgepodge of different parts with a Kubota D950 3 cyl. diesel. The tractor starts and drives flawlessly. Everything works as it should.
Since it will never be an "original" Cub Cadet, what do you guys think of a 982D clone so to speak? Move the battery back under the hood, replace the fuel tank and fenders to match that of a (1572/1772) and find a hood without the gas fill hole. Then some IH red paint and 982D decals (if they exist). I know anything is possible, but does this sound feasible? Has anyone done this? :bigthink: |
Sounds like a cool project. I know a good bodyman that can make the hole in that hood disappear.
|
Cool!! :beerchug:
Can you take the side shields off and take some pics? A 950 is pretty big, I would like to see how they did it? Thanks |
When I get home I will take some pics with the side panels off. I do know the air filter housing was modified to fit (not so pretty weld job).

Looks like a Cyclops fender pan. I don't see any brake pedals or power steering. :bigthink:

I wondered why it didn't have those too... the previous owner didn't know either. |
Finding a hood without a hole will be tough. Like Tim said, having that one closed up can be done. But finding the furl tank for under the seat..... that might take a while. Not like they part a lot of those out, and when they do, that tank sells fast. Besides, the cyvlops fuel tank is bigger. I'd remove the hole in the hood and repaint it as is. But I would make it look like an 88 series IH, or a Magnum.
Rest of it looks kind of cobbled. No pedals. No PS, and what's the box on back? Does it have rear PTO? |

You can get most of the parts for the tank off a 1105.
That tank is almost the same, maybe it can be modified. |
If you have a fab shop nearby you could have a custom tank made. That's probably the route I would go if I had a diesel and needed a new tank.
|
That's very interesting and opens up a world of questions. Mounts, frame mods etc. I too would like to see some more pictures close up. Neat find!
As for the under seat tank, it wouldn't be too hard to fab up a rectangular tank if you had too. |
