Mom and Pop power equipment store

1 Attachment(s)
Well I went to visit my local mom and pop power equipment store this morning... happened to be on that side of town and thought to stop in say hey and pick up a few things.. I have known these people my whole life and they helped me get started working on Cubs way back in the 70's. Their store was opened in the mid 1950's and they still run it today! :beerchug:

I was really expecting to get them to order a few things and pick up a few things they had... BUT they had EVERYTHING in stock! These people are amazing... didn't have to look one single thing up... I just walk in, tell him what I want and BAM he gets it off the shelf?? Where are you going to find service like that anywhere these days?:bigthink:

Sad thing is, this man and woman are both in their late 80's... their kids tried to run it and couldn't, and their grandkids want nothing to do with the business.. I'm scared they are gonna retire and close this place up.:bash2::bash2:

Just sad that 25 years ago places like this were everywhere and now you can't find anybody to give service like this or anybody that wants to give service...

Just thought I'd give a shout out to my old friends and thank them for their 60 plus years of service!:beerchug:

Very nice Jay.
I had a place up here, just like it. Magnin's Hardware. Owned by Chub Magnin. I was in that store with my dad when I was still in diapers. He had EVERYTHING we ever needed, never had to order anything. The building had a wood floor, creaked as you moved over it. Everyone knew everyone...
Sadly old Chub died a few years ago. Had to be in his upper 80's, or 90. Now all
that's left is a empty building.
Another one that's coming up is my local Cub dealer. This guy normally has everything I need in stock, if not he'll have it in a few days. Call him, and his wife answers the phone, so I spend ten minutes with her catching up on things before I can talk to the boss. :biggrin2:
But they are looking at retiring here soon. And there ain't no one going to stick their neck out to buy the business, being how Cub Cadet is nowadays...
So it is sad. All these good old shops, stores are soon to be nothing but a memory.

Same here in my neighborhood. The Cub Cadet dealer has been around for decades. Father passed it along to his son. I am a bit more fortunate. He is in his early 60's and I imagine he will be around for a few more years.

Sad and unfortunate to see mom and pops like this close shop.. The hardware store near me that I absolutely loved went out recently. The service was awesome. They had things you just can't find elsewhere same day. Plus there was just something about those 100 year old creaky, uneven, naturally worn, floor boards. Miss them all the time.

Jay, looks like a new owner such as yourself to take over the business would keep the tradition going.
I am sure those creaky floors will keep you happy.
