Turkey!!!!

So, The big day is less than a week away. Figured I would Put it out there.

I do the Turkey in my house. The wife makes the rest. I am picking up my Turkey this weekend. I get it from a farm. I brine my turkey in my beer brine recipe for 3 days. Then I cook it in the oven.

So,, who hunts their own? cooks their own? Uses 100 year old family recipe, bakes, frys, etc etc,,,

Had 15 walk through the yard yesterday. They looked miserable in that icey rain. I forgot turkey season is still in and let them go. Cubed breast browned in bread crumbs and baked in roasted garlic white sauce over noodles is really good. That meat is really rich, a lot different than white or dark chicken. Mike:beerchug:

That's not bad at all! Some day my kids will be old enough for me to do that.. I welcome it! They are 20 and 12 but My step daughter is 25... Only problem is I don't think a one of them can cook to save their lives lol :biggrin2:

Congrats you have graduated to the next level of parenting.

I usually smoke one, either for turkey day, or Christmas. I just got a new smoker, its big and gas fueled. I raise my own chickens for it, so I'm thinking about raising some turkey too.

My Daughter is a damn good cook. Ten times better than my ex ever was. Good thing my Daughter didn't get her cooking experience from her. :biggrin2:

Pie run

Anyone participate in an annual pie run? Sorry, no cubs allowed, it's for hot rods. Everyone with a running classic meets to form a parade to a local bakery that has taken orders beforehand. It's the last hurrah before the cars are put away for the winter.

I have not done a pie run. But for many years I played golf on Thanksgiving morning no matter what the temp.. Even played a few times with snow on the ground.. Much happier not doing that anymore.

I and my wife cook a weekly dinner for our two daughters and their families,,
(usually about 10 people)
well, last week, turkeys at Food Lion were $0.27 per pound, so last Tuesday we made a turkey with all the fixings,,
Yep, we splurged and spent over $4 for the turkey,,,

Now, for tomorrow, we are trying to figure out what to serve?? :bigthink:
Maybe a rib roast,,

anyways, the two daughters get together and make a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving,,
we get an invitation,,,:biggrin2:
