CC 100 Steering

I have a question for y'all. What's the first thing y'all did to your tractor to start solving play in the steering? With my 100 tractor just sitting, I can turn the wheel to the right 2-3" before anything starts to move. No play to the left when sitting. Any suggestions on where you would start? Thanks

You have to get down close to observe where you have slop while you rotate the steering wheel back and forth in the free play area. The slop could be at one or more of the following: 1)where steering arm attaches to steering spindle, 2) the ball joints (heims) , and 3) the steering gear box.

my 106 was supposedly sitting for 5-6 years and had about as much slop. Adding copious amounts of grease to the gearbox was a big help.

Pull the box and go through it replacing parts as needed ad readjust.
Then move on to the drag link, tie rod, spindle and 'C' channel snug.
Each operation will give increasingly significant improvement.
1st thing I do on any Cub that comes across my table.
Can't have the neighbors think you are guilty of MWI.:biggrin2:
