Tool Box Rattle

Ok folks, hunting down the last of the squeaks and rattles on my 106, and I'm down to the tools under the seat. At the moment, I've got a couple different size hitch pins and an old kitchen knife for opening feed bags, but I'm sure that collection of stuff will grow. I bought it for the garden, so it will be filled with garden stuff for sure.

What's under your seat? Why? What did you do to quiet it down? Let's see some pics!

Don't have but one or two Cadets with storage under the seat. If I was worried about noise then I would line with something like a piece of carpet. Drawer liners like goes in a tool box are still going to vibrate.

The carpet is a great idea,, especially if you saturate it with some rust inhibiting solution,,

My first thought would be a "Kroil" type product, but, that might evaporate,,

I would rather have my tools oily, rather than rusty,,

ANYTHING I put in the toolbox of my 584 IH gets rusty in under 6 months,,
that tractor is never left outside,,, EVER!!,,
So, the rust is not due to rain,,,

I think the vibration abrades the surface of steel, making the steel more susceptible to oxidation,,

Because of the rusting,, I never leave anything in my toolbox,,:bigthink:

You need to let me look after that 584 for you. I promise to install a proper toolbox. I assume that one has the tiny one under the left foot rest? Wonder if you were to line it with some "oil paper"--I don't know what you call it but a lot of new parts are shipped in it.
