Trying a new brake design

i got tired of replacing the stock brake pucks so i took a pinion brake design from a bolens and this is what ive got so far. i will be putting a hub/drum on the driveshaft that it makes contact with to stop. so rather than a 4.6:1 stopping ratio i will have a 96.6:1 stopping ratio in 1st gear.

do you just hang on and say ,,,,, WWHHHHHEEEEEEEE!!!

Not being familiar with Bolens, I am having a hard time grasping what you are doing from your pictures, so please keep them coming as you progress and maybe I'll catch on. But just from what you are describing, does it mean if you lock up the brake you will kill the engine? On another question, what do you do with your Cub that wears out so many brake pucks? Not trying to be a smart ass, just askin'.
