I have 982

I just replaced the original key switch in my 982 part number 925 3021 now the head lights stay on in the run position.
Does anyone have ideas. Thanks

One of two conditions. The Switch is NOT wired correctly or the wire for the Light Circuit is shorted to a positive 12VDC power source.

This is assuming the 925-3021 Switch is functioning correctly and not defective.

There are two different wire harnesses, 725-3021 719,999 and below, 725-3021 720,000 and above.
Which one you got?

snuffy450 02-17-2019 04:15 PM

Tractor serial number is 205095U 682281

To Roland's point, and curiosity. 2 different harnesses. Does that mean there could be 2 different key switches? I thought that number stayed the same?

Me thinks the ability to troubleshoot is made easier if one has the
schematics to follow, and ascertain if the problem lies in the switch, or wiring.
No?
Some well meaning merchants substitute a "will fit" switch that in theory, functions, but not as designed/specified by the equipment manufacture.
BTDT and and it causes unnecessary confusion.

Well boy, y'all just put this here part on and it will work fine. Now the wipers will work when y'all turn the headlights on, but it is not a problem as long as it is raining.
Oh, and y'all will have to open the glove box so the heater blower motor will be able to defrost the windshield but that is only a problem in the winter in icy conditions.
But y'all will be able to drive yer vehicle to work just fine.

Oh George.. Your absolutely correct. The direction the thread went was just a little confusing is all.. The thread sounded like it was blaming the harness a little.. I understand why the harness was brought into subject now .:beerchug:

The number is the same for the switch, 725-3021. The harness is a different number.
I posted the correct link to the harness he has.
If he is trubble shootin' he needed the correct one to do it.
I did not see the other one in the tech section, but if he needed it I would have sent him a copy....
Be sure the switch is marked the same as I said in post#5
