cub cadet 1210 not cutting grass properly
I have a cub cadet 1210. The blade farthest right will not cut grass. The other two do with no problem. I looked underneath and the problem blade is in the shape of an "x", the other two aren't. Is this the problem or is it a belt problem? I'm hesitant to think its a belt problem because the other two blades give me no issue. Any assistance would help. Thanks.

:Welcome2:
Got a picture of the blades? Might be a spindle on the right side or dull blades. With the right side having a diffrent type of blade doesn't make sense. Is it new to you or did you purchase it new? |
I will try to get a picture up as soon as I can. I got it a year and a half ago and never had any issue with it till now.

The blade on the left hand side of the picture is the problem one. As you can see it is different than the other. the third blade is exactly like the one on the right of the picture |
Sure looks to me like the blades are double stacked. Don't think that is a good idea to do that. That set on the left most deffinately has 2 blades. I would unbolt them from the spindles and see what is going on. :bigthink:

and it also looks like the "good" blade is also double stacked. maybe the previous owner used old blades as a shim??? just guessing. jeff

yeah they are definitely all double stacked. i dont really have much knowledge at all on this, this is the first lawn tractor ive ever owned. i had to take it out as is today and finish mowing, the grass was getting pretty high. it took 3x as long due to that x shaped blade not cutting anything at all. methos suggested the spindle, any other thoughts?

I think I would take all the blades off and sharpen 3 of them and reinstall them. Looks to me like the nuts are not as far threaded on the spindle shafts as they need to be. Looks like a 3/4" spindle shaft so eliminate one set of blades and put on a blade and add a 3/4" washer and nut and re torque x3 and you should be mowing in no time. Hope this makes sense it's been a really long day.:IH Trusted Hand:

thank you very much for your help. i will try that.

I agree with removing the extra set of blades sharpen 3 of them and reinstall is the way to go. Think of it this way you've got a spare set of blades already. :beerchug: The pictures really help thanks for posting them!
