In need of a Machine Shop
 

To try and make a long story short, I let my Brother use my model 70 to cut the grass at his place. He thought he had ran out of gas when it stooped running. Well after filling it up, it wouldn't start. I had him try to roll it over by hand, with no luck. I had him pull the plug and try pulling it over by hand and he can't get it to move. He said the oil was low on the stick so I think it has locked up.

I can pull the engine apart and rebuild it , but I want to find a good machine shop to check the bore and do work as needed / if needed. As long as I have the engine out and apart I will do a complete rebuild.

So my question is, is there a shop that is good on the Kohler engines near Rockford, Ill.??

We have more then a few small engine shops around town, but I don't know of one that does more then swap out parts. I will be asking around them also to see who they may use/ know of.

So Help would by greatly appreciated

Don't know of any up that far north but there are a few stragglers in this part of the state, I'm like an hour south of Chicago
Engine machining and overhaul is becoming a lost art, in this day and age of cheap products and the throw away society we now live in I'd rather rebuild a 40-50 year old piece of equipment knowing it will still be around in another 40 years, vs buying a newer cheap quality pile of junk

Thanks for your replay, and sorry it has taken me this long to say thank you for taking your time .
Still looking for a shop to do the work needed, the one lead I had closed up some time back.
Once I get the wifes list of needs to be done cut down some I will start looking again. Thank you for taking time to help me out.

Quite a ways away for you, but I use Sperry Engines in Cedar Rapids for my last rebuild.
