Ross steering upgrade
I ordered the Ross steering upgrade and put it on. It was easy enough, .but all that "thrust bearing" does is acts like a wide washer. It is a bearing, but it is between a washer at the steering box and the washer and nylon lock nut that comes with it. It is not acting as a bearing, just as a spacer. Am I missing something?...:Unknown:

How about a picture of this "upgrade kit" you bought..??

My understanding is that it reduces the drag that would caused by tightening the nut.

That kit consists of:
(1) Nice 605-V Thrust Ball Bearing (1) Steel Washer (1) NyLock Jam Nut Kirk Engineering sells these, and they are a good kit. |

The kit should allow you to find the "sweet spot" a little easier. They help, I've done it to 3-4 around here, but by itself, they are not a miraculous upgrade if the rest of your steering system is badly worn.

I tried one of them setups, I was not impressed.
I gave it away and installed power steering,---------- that impressed me. It was and is, the single most rewarding modifications I have done to my klub kibbits lawnmowers :biggrin2: |
