1650 Blowing oil out dip stick
 

pick up a 1650 from a guy that his dad bought new. He said it started blowing oil out dip stick it still ran but he parked it couple years ago . would it be a broken ring or some thing else?

Start with cleaning crankcase breather and see what you achieve. Are you burning any oil?

I haven't mess with it yet . Previous owner said that it had been rebuild in the 90's

Has 120 pounds compression .

Crankcase breather is clean

Is it functioning correctly ??

I guess how do you tell ?

Do you have the Koher K Series Service Manual ??

That is about as helpful as saying it snowed sometime in Alaska in the past 25-30 + years.
"Rebuilt" has many meanings depending on who is telling the "story"
To some, it means it was worked on by someone, having no idea what was done or to what.
Or to others, things were cleaned up and repainted, or the carb. or fuel tank was cleaned.
Still others, it means something like a engine rebuilt including, but not limited to,
boring & honing the cylinder to the next appropriate oversize, turning the crank to the next undersize and fitting the proper bearing or rod replacement.
Replacing the valves and seats or reconditioning them.
Setting the clearance by the proper method
resurfacing the block & head or heads.
Etc etc etc.
No sense building a watch here, I think you get the idea.

Now download the service manual, as it is free here, and go systematically at
checking the crankcase breather as to if it is functioning properly.
Easy things first.

Is the dipstick launching into the hood? or just leaking/slobbering?
We need more info and not stupid stuff like "it was rebuilt 30 years ago"
Now lets "Giddy up" and do some detective work,
before guessing.
Please explain how you got #120 of compression, understanding that engine has a compression release?

IIRR, they said the titanic was steaming along just fine, even the band was playing,---- just before it sank.:bigthink:

Screwe in compresion tester and crank engine over . Goes right up to 120 pounds . The dip stick moves up down a little when cranking
