Hello fellas! New here and new to antique cub cadets. I been looking for one for about 6 months and finally I found what I'm looking for. I bought a 1969 cub cadet 124. 12 hp kolher engine. It has a few issues but it does run.

Wiring issues is one of them and wiring to voltage regulator seem missing. Sometimes it wont start unless I wiggle some wires around. I need new key switch. I'd like to get it back to original as possible. It dies going up hill.

I have not went through the engine yet as far as spark plug, oil change, carb cleaning and fresh gas, etc. That's on the list.

Other than that, it seem like a solid tractor, original 1969 paint on it. The rear wheels, are they original or are they suppose to be in the upper 23 inches?

None of the tires are anywhere near original.

In the Tech Library Section on Page #5, is the Wiring Diagrams for the NF tractors. Download the one for your model.

I would replace the Ignition Switch and see where that takes you as far as electrical problems.

Definitely tires is not original. The paint work seem to be original. I might be wrong tho as it is missing stripe along the hood.

:Welcome2: Looks like a great cub cadet with lots of potential! Sometimes, the right one comes along and you just know it when you see it. If it was my cub cadet, I would go to the Technical Section of the forum and download the NF (narrow frame) wiring schemata for your cub cadet and then carefully trace out all of the wiring to make sure no Gremlins have overtaken it. Right away, your voltage regulator is unhooked from where it should be mounted (between the headlights). If you leave it on the heat shield and run your cub, then it will be toast real soon!!!

The mounting ears is broken off. I have to buy a new regulator, unfortunately. The heat sheild is fubared too.

If I were you, I'd think about replacing the wire harness: https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...ad.php?t=34457

Nice tractor by the way!

Not a bad price for the harness! Better priced than anywhere else I seen.

Not only is it high quality but every single connection is labeled.

I purchased one for my 125 and it was easy to install.
