i1046 Deck Issue

I have a i1046 time saver. I really like this LT, but it has become unusable because of the deck. Every time I mow I end up destroying a Spindle Pulley and shaft. I am using cub parts and have even replaced the entire spindle assembly. I have no clue what to do. I really don't want to replace the parts every time I mow. The springs and belt are correct. I have mulching blades and cap on it. I am so frustrated that I am about ready to get rid of the thing.

Here are a few pictures of the deck. Everything moves freely. I just don't get it. This is the best running mower I have ever had (engine), but I am seriously considering getting rid of it. I can't make it through my small yard without the deck messing up. I would like to just trade it for a smaller "normal" cub. This experience is about to make me give up on the brand.

I've had trouble with Craftsman/Husqvarna decks doing that if the nut that clamps the pulley down is not tight enough. I was given one Craftsman mower that kept striping a pulley and when I ordered a new spindle assembly the instructions gave a torque spec on the pulley nut. Seems like it was 75 lbs. Mine were not Cub decks but it's the same connection between the spindle shaft and pulley.

Something is not being reassembled in correct sequence. IE washer, spacer, bushing in wrong, upside down, backwards.

If it's just one spindle, try this. Remove another spindle and put used one in the location you have been putting the new one in. Pay close attention to how the one in other location comes apart and reassemble it same way. Let us know what happened.

I thought the belt routing might be wrong. But in looking at diagram seems right, but double check it

So I looked up your parts diagram.

Are you only changing part # 61? Chances are you need to replace the bearings as well and possibly the entire spindle housing #63 if the bearing surfaces are wallowed out.

The spindle housing and bearing are not real expensive from cub cadet.

You can also buy the entire assembly from ebay rather cheaply

Heres a link to ebay one.

I replaced all three spindle assemblies when I first started having this problem. Everytime this happens I have to replace part 61 and 58. The shaft and pully. Should try just having something tighten it down to some ridiculous amount of torque?

So now the problem only happens on one of the spindles but not the other 2?

Everything looks really dry. Did you grease them when you installed?

Just one more question. When you replaced these. Did you use genuine cub cadet parts? Or after market?
