What goes where?
I am green and I just bought a early 70's 128. And I love it, but it is coming together with hiccups. The voltage regulator seems to be the culprit. I tested the SG and it responded correctly. The VR that is on it is a 4 wire with lug on the bottom. My problem is the hook up. The diagram shows a ground going from the VR, but from what lug, F?. The VR is capable of being grounded to the frame, is that enough?
I will appreciate all and any answers. :bash2: PS I already bought a plow. |
128 vr
More notes
I went to my local NAPA and got a VR896SB which I was told is the cross to the 1118988, but the VR from NAPA has a F, Bat, and L lugs.:bigthink: |
128 vr
there is a lug in the bottom.

I have had good luck with just cleaning and re adjusting the old regulators. The proceedure is outlined in the engine service manual.

what goes where
I love the diagram, but the old VR was blown. One of the connecting wires on going to the coil was burnt so bad that it melted into. So I have a new one from NAPA part # VR896SB. I can put the new one on just like I took the old on off, but is it right? My questions are:
1. F is tied to a chasis ground, so is that where I put a ground to the battery ground as on the diagram? 2. Is L the same as GEN? 3. lastly the bottom lug has no label. I thought someone would have bought the same VR from NAPA and would know what goes where. Thanks Bruce:beatdeadhorse: |
what goes where
I have really given a decent try, but no success. I took the replacement VR that is posted on this site to my NAPA store and received a VR that doesn't match up to the diagram, look at previous posts. So the question is has anyone used the suggested VR and knows where the different wires go?
