Oils

I'm sure this subject has been touched on many times. Anyway heres the umpteen millionth time. My kohler engine seems to blow an almost whitish smoke (I'm color blind, so its likey light blue) I'm thinking of going to Shell Rotella straight 40W, or should I stay with 30W. Also, I think it was Brain Millers suggestion that the transmission oil could be switched from my present 75-80W to 30W motor oil. I don't want to go that light, but what about a straight 50W. I use my Cub only for grass cutting. I wish they made a synthetic straight weight.

You can use whatever you want. It is your tractor.

Here is what Kohler recommends....... Kohler Oil

Here is what Cub Cadet recommends for the Rear End......Transmission Oil

Why are you using such a thick fluid in the trans? Use HYTRAN...

MattG---I guess I'm old school in that department. We always used gear oil in our trans., & rears in cars so I guess thats where that came from. Thanks for correcting me.
