brake broke
New guy here , picked up a 123 at an auction for $175.00 and have started to sort it out . I have tried to adjust the brake by turning the adjustment screw clockwise to no result . It seems that the thing that the push rod goes against doesnt move in or out . To service the brake , do you have to get into the internal hydro unit ? I really dont like to drive this beast without brakes, this aint no craftsman .

Chances are the PO never used the brake, that's why the plunger is stuck-up. OR the speed controll centering cam is worn badly making the pedal difficult to push down when the tractor is in motion.
I have several (7 that I can think of while I'm setting here) hydros and almost never use the pedal to stop or slow down. You may be hard pressed to find an IH built Cub Cadet Hydro owner who does use the pedal. If you want your brakes fixed, I hate to be one of the guys who says this (it's kind of involved and I'm short on time) but, download the service manual from the tech. section on this forum, there is a pretty good description on brake repair in it. |
