Advice appreciated
Hello Members,
New to OCC and I have been looking to purchase a new Cub as opposed to an older used model. Actually I would prefer an older version but have no extra time on my hands for repairs if needed. Reviewing the specs on the Cub website has narrowed my selection down to the XT1 GT50 because it has the K58 trans or the LT50 which is $900 less with no trans model specified. I will not be using it as a mower. I am in the desert in CA with 1 acre and in this area homeowners just drag their property with a 4x6' piece of chain link or something similar to keep the weeds from getting root and growing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Pete |
Just my 2 cents. Both machines you mention are lawn tractors NOT garden tractors. For the money I would find a nice Quiet line or wide frame that is in good shape and runs well. Since you dont need a deck or the pto working, look for one with no deck and negotiate the price in your favor for the missing deck. You should be able to get a real nice 1250 or 129 for around 500 bucks in running condition. Buying a new machine does not mean its going to outwork an old one.

However, if the only two options to be considered are the ones you offered, I reluctantly would go with the GT50. |

Since you don't need a grass cutter, I'd suggest you forget the economy lawn mower stuff and use a four wheeler, either new or used, to drag your mat around your property. Four wheelers can do other fun things than drag a piece of fence behind it. |
