Facebook find. Derelict 1450 with hydraulic lift. No tires. Front end disassembled and head removed. Including a mower deck. Seller stated that it does run. I didn't care. I just wanted it for the hydraulics. $100
When I arrived the 1450 was out in the driveway and there were tires on it. (I had brought tires anyway) To my surprise he had also pushed out a 1650 with hydraulic lift in the same condition. With side panels, mower deck, dozer blade, and chains. Seller said he'd take a hundred for it too. I agreed without hesitation. He looks at my 6x10 trailer and says I will have to come back for it. I scratched my chin and told him I would manage it somehow. He then stated that if I was successful that he would give it to me for free. Game On. I wasn't sure I could do it but I would try just the same. Not having a measuring device I took to pacing off the tractors and the inside of the trailer. Hmmm... Maybe if I... Winched the first one ass backwards in to one side. Winched the second forward to the other side. Two front tires bumping heads. Seller laughs and says, "Guess I'll see you tomorrow". I say, "Don't count your money yet". I removed the two tires that were bumping and scooted the second tractor in the rest of the way. After I loaded the miscellaneous items I did offer to pay him for the 1650. It was the right thing to do. He wouldn't take it. He said, "The entertainment was worth it." It was a good day and meeting Dominick was one of the highlights. What should have taken an hour to load took all afternoon. You get two olde guys together and start talking about the weather (uncommonly mild this year), tractors, old cars, older women, tater tots, and whatnot. I didn't want it to end. It's too dark for pictures. I'll post some tomorrow. Here's a couple from the ad. |
Great write! Can’t wait for the pictures!

This is my first foray into wide frame territory. I have always thought they look like the robot named bender.
Got a lot of work on my hands. I will have to go through both. If I find there is enough parts to bring both back to life, I will. One as least. |
Nice haul.

Free is good.
Nice haul, but who needs a trailer to pick up 2 Cubs? |

The 1650 runs. The Hydraulic lift has its Ups 'n' Downs.
The seller told me not to bother with it but since it was the first one out of the trailer I gave her a try. Idles nice, does not bog off idle, and doesn't smoke. No funny clanking noises. Put a coil on it from a K301 smoker collecting dust in the corner and a new set of points. A tiny bungee was used until I get some governor springs. At first start I thought the engine was going to jump out of the tractor due to the two left motor bolts being missing. Both carburetors that came with this package are #30. One has a cracked pickup casting from someone thinking a 3/8-16 bolt was a good replacement for the bowl bolt. Do either of the K341AQS or K321AQS engine have balance gears?
