1440 Mule belt rubbing hanger frame
 

New to the forum and CCs with little mechanical ability but leaning.
I have a 92 1440 with the 42” deck.

A little background: Busted a deck belt on first cut and figured out it was from one of the adjustable hangers coming loose. I replaced belt, fixed hanger and all was good... I thought.
After this, on my next cutting I could feel a wobble and the mule/pro belt broke!
The mule belt was replaced yesterday and I don’t want to run it because it he top of the belt is rubbing the Hager frame And it is rubbing the left side (from driver seat). I think it was touching it lightly before this all happened.
I will attach a photos to show the area. Sorry for the quality... I’ll try to get better ones

How about some pictures from the Mule Drive pulleys to the Center Pulley of the mower deck that shows the entire routing.

Looks like a farm store belt from the pictures.
I wouldn't expect it to last long on a mule drive application what with all the twisting.
Something is not right if it is touching the mule drive.
Holes and/or hanger pins worn and wallered out allowing the ass'y to hang crooked?
Wrong length belt fitting too loose and hanging down touching somewhere?
Miss adjusted tension causing looseness?
Worn pullies and or pully bearings?

The belt number was found on some parts diagram of the mule drive I found online..
Here is how it was listed on the order... “ MTD Cub Cadet 754-3048 954-3048 made with Kevlar Replacement Belt”.

I have never had, or dealt with, any type of lawn/garden tractor so I could have easily put something back wrong when putting the deck back on.
Belt seems routed right except for going through that hanger bracket spot.
Including a photo I took that shows the pulleys and somewhat shows how the belt is routed. Not sure whY pics I needed when these were taken.

Also, Something could have gotten bent (or just pushed out of place when the hanger let go on the left side while mowing.

Belt is not loose. at least it appears very tight, but some of that is the hanging bracket “laying” on the top of the belts as shown in the earlier pics. Will check the tech section and make sure routing is correct.... thanks for directing me there. Couldn’t find any routing info when I googled before.

Here is a scan of your deck and mule drive, be sure the pickle fork is on correctly #23 in the hanger parts breakdown, and the mule drive is attached in the correct holes of the front hanger.
The belt routing is incorrect see the manual.

The diagram that I saw previously showed the pickle fork, but not the rod or stop. I’ll check that.
The manual is great... I had the 1440 one but am so slow on this I didn’t realize the mule belt setup would be in the deck manual! 😜
After looking at the manual, the belt seems to be run correctly. Did not do any tension adjustment though. I will try to do some self education now and check on some adjustment when I get back to it thurs/fri,

In your picture your belt is on wrong, didja fix it? It goes on the outside of the left mower deck hanger.
