122 reverse issue
I have a question about a 122 transmission. I started having issues with it popping out of reverse every now and then. I have noticed that it has started doing it more often and today while using the tractor, sometimes, the tractor wouldn’t move at all in reverse. I could take it out of reverse, put it back in and then it would usually move. I am wondering if anyone has had something like this happen? Are parts available or should I find a donor tractor for a transmission? Thanks in advance for any help

The bolts (parts #12) Lock the shifter forks (parts 14 and 18) to the shift rods (parts 17). The bolts loosen and slide on the rod not allowing the gears to fully engage. In your case, it's the bolt holding part #18 in place.

Thank you for the info Ironman!!! I feel a lot better about the situation!

It's funny you say that, all last night all I could think about was getting out there this morning and taking things apart. After a while, I started thinking "what if there is more wrong inside of it". I did get it apart this morning and so far all I have found is the loose bolt on the shift fork.
I have also started having issues with the steering binding at times. While dismantling things, I took the steering column out and took it apart. I have a 125 that died a couple years ago that I took the steering column out of in hopes of just swapping but it is too short. I am going to clean everything up and make 1 good out of the 2. After all of this is fixed, I need to look into finding seals for the hydraulic lift cylinder or a new cylinder. |
