would the short block off a 129 work on a 1200/1250? I know, starter, tinwork, alum cover plate and such would be different between them..... and the 129 is/was mechanical clutch where the 1200/1250 are electric. have a spare engine from a 129 that runs and needs a rebuild, want to build the short block and swap the rest of the parts from either a 1200 or a 1250 onto it if all else would work....

Two issues I can see are the 129 engine would have the dipstick integrated in the cam cover so you’d have leave your side panel off, and some of the older engines don’t have the bolt holes drilled and tapped in the front of the block for the electric clutch to bolt to. A third issue would be removing the exhaust elbows to swap over which prove to be no fun as well. Hope I didn’t rain on your parade too much!
