What is a Michigan Seat?
The seat on my 1650 has finally gotten to the point where I want to fork over the money to replace it. (Why does something made mostly of foam cost so much?!?!) Searching around for a better bottom had me come across the term "Michigan Style" seat.
Intrigued as to why people in the state of Michigan would have a seat different from the rest of us, I searched around a bit on the web trying to find an answer, and found none. Lots of places selling "Michigan Style", but no explanation as to the name. Most seats I saw labeled as "Michigan Style" were high back, with nothing really special that I could see. Although, Northern Tool listed this seat as "Michigan Style". But, that looks like a seat you would put on a old school RER.
So, I pose these questions here: What is a "Michigan Style" seat? And what make is different enough that it isn't just called a "High Back" or "Low Back"?
