Cyclops 48"/54" mulching kit.

CC sells a mulching kit for these mower decks. The blades used with this kit from CC are around $30/ea.

I bought a 2550 w/48" deck that had the mulching kit on it and I transferred the kit over to a 48" deck on a Cyclops Looks like the same deck except for the mounting points. Everything bolted up, lined up okay but the blades are worn out and don't cut worth a crap.

So, me being a cheap skate, I'm not paying $30/ea. for three blades.

Anyone here used a 48" deck like this with the mulch kit installed and different blades?

This deck is a dedicated mulching deck, not primarily a grass cutting deck.

Where did you get those part numbers?

CC mulching blade for 48" deck as used on 1641 shows as 759 3856.

When the same mulching kit is used on a 2550 tractor, it uses two blades per spindle. Different blades.

It appears from your Oregon listing, 91-059 is what I need?

Mike I just looked up regular blades on the Cub parts site. This may be more what your looking for. $45 for 3 blades.

I saw that but lost the link. Specifically, I was actually wondering if anyone had tried those blades. Especially on the deck I have.

I've never used mulching blades.

I'm using the gator mulch blades with the mulch kit on my 48" deck for the 1864. Has a very good cut. I got them from the site that Sam posted

A couple of questions.

When just cutting grass without needing to mulch, do you get a good cut or does it leave streaks?

Do the blades do a good job of mulching leaves? Heavy leaves?

Does cuttings pack up under the deck causing frequent clean out?

Questions assume the mulching baffle is fully in place.

Thanks.

It's a good clean cut when just cutting grass which is what I do the most. The PO had the mulch kit on it so I've left it that way but did replace the blades because the ones on it were trash. It does a good job of mulching the leaves into fine little pieces at my parents place. My deck does have those rubber flap pieces at the front of the deck. The PO left them off and handed them to me so I put them on. I think it helps keep the clippings from flying up out of the front of the deck. I have not mulched any heavy amounts of leaves though. If the grass is completely dry I haven't had a problem with grass building up under the deck. Now if it's damp I think it builds up quicker than my 44c or 50c decks.
