1864 hydro leak

I'm a new guy here, registered just yesterday. My 1864 with maybe 600 hrs had a hard life previously - apparently run in extreme dust/dirt. The hydro and rear assembly were encrusted with dirt and oil 1 - 3 inches thick. I cleaned it up nice and found a leak on the input shaft to the hydro. It must have been running hot for a long time. It looks to be a diy job, but not having a service manual yet, I'm not sure. There's an o ring in there which I guess must be the problem. A major concern is how to easily remove the drive shaft and not create a problem. Can anyone advise on this repair? Thanks.

My 1541 leaked after I got it running. I removed the drive shaft and cleaned the CV type joints, replaced the boots that were worn or cracked and repacked with grease. I also replaced the fan because it was broken. The seal that is on the front of the hydro is easy to replace. Remove the two bolts holding the charge pump on and tap the old seal out, put the new seal in and I was good to go.

Thanks. Now I'm waiting for the seal to ship in. I see it is not the o ring, but the one on the shaft....makes sense. I'm hoping I can simply remove the cv joint next to the fan and hang the drive shaft by a wire while I pull the housing from the front of the pump and reseal. If my thinking is wrong on this, please let me know.
