2072 electric problem
Bought a 2072 last year - just about done with lots of small repairs. Did some wiring repairs as well. Started it up last night ran ok, shut down and now it wont start and blows the fuse from the selonoid to the ign. switch every time I turn the key
Any ideas ? - thanks |
I'm not sure you have that wired right. The two fuses should be in the lights circuit and the PTO clutch circuit. None of my tractors have one between the ignition switch and the solenoid.

Looking at the wiring diagram the line goes from solenoid to fuse then to charge indicator then to key switch
|
Oops, my bad...I could have sworn that was protecting the PTO clutch.
Anyway, is the correct fuse installed? I think it's supposed to be 15A. And do you mean 'won't start' or 'won't crank'? If it keeps blowing that fuse (and it's the correct fuse) you've got a short somewhere...start tracing wires. |

Check your E-Mail. Wiring Diagram sent. :IH Trusted Hand: |
Yep already got the diagram and yes checked for proper fuse and looked for visual shorts. Thats why I am stumped
|
You can't check for shorts visually...use your multimeter to look for a wire that's grounded that shouldn't be.
|
yep did that.
Actually I think I am onto the problem. The old owner eliminated some of the safety switches and I took out one more. I think some are N/O and some are N/C which need to treated differanlty to be taken out |
