QL1000 Steering Problem
 

I just rebuilt the steering box and have maybe 4 hours on it since then.

a couple of times (literraly 3-4), when turning from L to R (or maybe R to L) the wheel has locked up when its ABOUT in the center. (at the time my son was driving, told him next time it happened to hold pressure on it binding and stop).

He did and I see NOTHING binding up. If you take a little pressure of the wheel, maybe turn it 5-10 degrees in opposite direction it free's itself up and we are good to go. Aerated a yard yesterday for 45 minutes NO ISSUES and tons of trees, but the yard prior did it 1 time. Strange....

Thoughts on whats going on? Does it need to wear in after being rebuilt? i'm using the same column and follower? is the follower maybe ever so slightly too tight?

When you rebuild it did you have it centered before you adjusted the follower?

I think so, but I guess I can always check it again....can do that without taking it out

In my experience, if your follower had wear on it, that is your real problem. The follower tip wears oval shaped and unless you orient the follower back to the worm gear the same way it was worn, you'll have the problem you have and/or you're going to have to live with some steering play.

It's possible your lock nut has backed off too.
