2518 question about steering play/slop

I have a 2004 Cub cadet 2518 and the steering has quite a bit of play in it. When I turn the wheel there seems to be quite a bit of steering wheel movement before the pivot bar takes up slop and then steering starts to "work".

I was wondering if the amount of front/back play in the pivot bar is normal as seen here?

While I am not familiar with your 2518, the amount of axle movement looks excessive. Can the axle be shimmed or bolts used to limit the front/back movement?

I too, am not familiar with the 2518 either.

From that video, NO that is not normal.

As an educated guess, check to see if the Pivot Pin Nut is loose. If that is tight, then I am guessing of lack of Maintenance (no grease) has wallowed out the hole in the Axle (719-3095), as well, as the Pivot Pin (938-3110) being worn.

I would suggest jacking the front end up, removing the axle, and do an inspection on the Pivot Hole and Pin for wear.

Thanks for looking.... It was missing the left side bolt that goes through the pivot bar, I am sure that can't help.

(Hex Bolt 3/8-16 X 2.75. Part Number: 910-3066).

Center bolt looks ok. The right side bolt seems loose to me. Seems like when I get the new bolt in and snugged down it will be a lot better. Thanks!
